Hi all,

I dont know whether this is a correct forum or not to raise this question, After I failed to get any solution from ubuntu forum, Here I am trying to solve my problem. If it is wrong, please ignore it

In my Ubuntu 11.10 OS, I have installed LAMP successfully as per mentioned in the following article "Install LAMP and phpMyAdmin on Ubuntu 11.10" from the following site "http://tuxtweaks.com/2011/10/install-lamp-and-phpmyadmin-on-ubuntu-11-10/".

Everything works perfectly, all my php files are successfully opened in my firefox browser. But i am not able to see my cgi and pl files in my web browser.

I want to configure perl in my Apache to run cgi and pl files.

Is it possible for somebody to help me in fixing this issue?

    When you have installed several Linux packages, as it seems that you have done, in order to move closer to the desired solution to your problem, the next thing you need to do is to take a closer look at what those package installation steps actually did.   The Internet is fairly stuffed with articles on how to use Perl in CGI, FastCGI, and mod_perl environments, and so the first order of business is to take a look at the actual Apache configuration files and so-forth to see what the package installation steps have prepared you to most-easily do.

    Strictly speaking, LAMP is not any single product:   it’s just a rather loosey-goosey acronym for “a web server and a database running on a maybe-Linux box.”   So, when you say that you “installed LAMP,” that is not as precise or as un-ambiguous a statement as you might initially suppose.   Fact is, it’s not precise or un-ambiguous at all, which is why you can really only expect vague answers (if any) to your question as posed in this way.   Even though we can see that you are using mod_fcgid, even that does not say too much yet.   Go find exactly what your actual situation is, then match it up to existing documents that seem to deal closely with that scenario.

    Of course, please feel free to continue this thread!   This isn’t “RTFM.”   The Monks are ready to help to the extent that we can.

      Thanks for your mail.

      Really I afraid about my position when I read your mail. Because I am a Perl Developer purely on Windows Environment. With purely in my personal interest, i tried to congigure localhost webserver for web designing in Linux.

      As per I mentioned earlier in my mail, I followed the instructions given in the web link. As a windows user, I tried to express my problem in my windows language. May be it is a wrong way in Linux environment. I will try to learn the language of Linux environment. Thanks for directing me.

      Really speaking at present I have no idea how to speak in the words as you expect.

      In previous people working in linux, help us to solve the problems by asking the status and inputs of our some configuration files. I think that people will help us in such a way.
