$WORK uses git. Perl uses git. So, I have to know git. It's software, so, by definition it sucks. There hasn't been a reason for me to learn mercurial or svn, or whatever version control system is in vogue today. I'm sure they suck as well. Just as CVS, RCS, SCCS before them. And next years tool will suck as well.

git does the job for me. And since I already have to know git, I use for personal projects as well. I'm sure mercurial and others would do the jobs as well. There just hasn't been any justification to learn something else.
