I have been programming for less than two years and am currently attending college studying Computer Science. I am 46 years old, so I got a very late start. My wife convinced me to start school and after one term as a Business major she asked me to please switch to Computer Science so that I would stop being so grumpy. I work as an application developer, it is kind of a padded title though. I am the only application developer in my smallish (about 400 employees) company. I have been in the job just over a year and took over from a guy that only knew Microsoft Access and COBOL, and neither very well, so I inherited a hot mess. I have decided that Perl will be what I focus on as I try to build some things to interface with our business system, which is currently an SQL Server back end with a VB front end. The amount of work ahead of me is staggering, combined with 12-14 credits of school per term, I spend all of my waking hours in front of a computer monitor.
