You can't use your browser's "Back" button to recover
the text?
FYI, I've never seen this problem which makes me suspicious
that it is at least partially a client problem.

It is. Some stupid browsers don't always cache the text in text boxes. I deleted NutScrape Navigator in a fit of fury after it blew away a post I spent an hour working on. Sourceforge has some nice browsers, ranging from the NutScrape look-alike Mozilla to some very spanky streamlined ones which are actually nice to browse with.
As for going to the wrong link, I have had problems where I select a link, and it took me to the right page, but badly mangled (no nodelets, weird colours, other strange stuff). I just assumed someone was updating the site at the time. I was using an old version of MSIE though. ____________________

No, I can't. "Back" will take me to that wrong page, too!
