Hi Daxim, Thanks for this. In fact, then, it looks as though the final architecture will be a mixture of: Some `udev` stuff to detect when something is plugged in; Some `cups` stuff to actually add it (or not); Some `Printer.pm` or `Wx::Printer.pm` stuff to adjust the settings; I'll post when I get a better answer. How does Printer add the question of adding a new printer to the system printer definitions when plugging the device in? From reading the documentation, it only seems to handle the job of printing to devices known to `lpd` (or the OS), not the job of printer definitions and printer administration.	[reply] [d/l]

What part of the module documentation did you think would allow Linux users to add new printers? "This module is intended to allow perl programs to use and query printers on any computer system capable of running perl. The intention of this module is for a program to be able to use the printer without having to know which operating system is being used." Is there a reason you continue to post bare URLs rather than use a link?	[reply]

Hi Jack, Well, the guys are right, but thanks all the same. Up to now I've been using Wx::Printer, so it will be interesting to see if Printer.pm is any more flexible/can be put to different uses. Nil illegitimi carborundum eh? Regards Steve	[reply]
