You're confusing what reply is about what despite proper quoting.

Sorry, could you translate that into english please?

Apparently, I'm the one who got confused. Anything to add to the following?

    • BUK: Yes. "Extensible Markup Language (XML) is a simple, very flexible text format ..."
    • ike: Note that the passage you quoted does not appear anywhere in the spec.
    • BUK: Que? If you follow the link behind the quoted passage, the very first line of the very first paragraph is word for word what I quoted.
    • ike: I said "the passage you quoted does not appear anywhere *in the spec*", emphasis added.
    • And by "the passage", I really meant any reference to being a text format at all.
    • BUK: Really? Then I guess you missed section "2.2 Characters" of "the spec": That I both linked and quoted elsewhere.
    • ike: Nope, apparently you misread it. There's nothing about XML being a text format in there.

      Well done for owning up.

Anything to add to the following?

Other than to note that your summary omits this reply which explains your confusion before this got silly, no.
