Nevertheless, please take a moment to bring this thread to closure ... for the benefit of the next person who encounters it.   What was the complete error message (that turned out to be “the needle in the haystack”), and, briefly, how did you recognize the nature of the problem, how did you solve it, and how did you know that the problem was gone?

I had the same error. It's because the mysql lib version is older. To install updates, do a "yum install mysql-devel" and it fixes the problem. (Tested on CentOS.) Hope that helps..
