I used to enjoy the poetry section, with its quick and witty poems. I laughed, I cried, I thought, "now THAT'S clever."

Upon looking through 2 pages of entries today, I found that the poetry area has mostly become a repository for song translations.

Where have all the flowers gone?

    Um, would that be " grep /rose|tulip|daffodil/, @_ or return 0 " ? (Sorry, but you left it so wide open... ...and I've been working too many hours.)

    I had a long train of questions inspired by the last line of the above node, ending with:
    # When will they ever learn? print scalar answer_when(\&learned_the_lesson); sub answer_when { my $test_question = shift; for (my $t = 0; 1; $t++) { return localtime($t) if $test_question->($t); } } sub learned_the_lesson { 0 }
    I will let you know when I get an answer.

    My idea of Perl Poetry is basically anything in perl that resembles a poem, or translations of poem like things into proper perl syntax code, or perl code that can be read pretty much by anyone like sentances. But of course... this is the loosest of definitions... and meeting these criterion in NO way means it is good perl poetry :) I have no problem with song translations... but too many at once get kind of... annoying... now, what I like is a good <SHAMELESS_PLUG>Fish Dinner</SHAMELESS_PLUG>

    Update Of course then there is artistic license... poetry is whatever the $#^& I say it is, oppressor!
