Thanks for the links, daxim. I should've been more specific: I'm more interested in the major modern changes and additions since 5.8. Sorry for not being specific enough. Some examples of what I'd like to know: When was given/when added? When was smart match added? Have there been any pragmas added which, when used, deprecate older less-recommended features? And the biggest, which I was unable to articulate until just now: What do the "`use 5.$X`" pragmas get me? Which features do they enable/disable? Thanks so much!	[reply]

5.10 5.10 The following (non-core!) pragmas disable some more or less unwanted aspects of Perl. autovivification bareword::filehandles circular::require indirect multidimensional stringification I probably forgot a few. Starting with 5.10, `use version` enables the feature pragma. Read that documentation carefully. So far, `feature` only enabled new stuff, or enabled stuff that was deprecated and removed. The semantics of `feature` are supposed to support disabling stuff, and I will be delighted to discover how future Perls handle this. Related: How can I test when a feature was added to Perl?
