I had the same problem. I think

$window =~ eval 'qr{'.$regexp.'}' ;

should work, and not produce the error.

No, eval is dangerous (even qr{} can be dangerous), use String::Interpolate or use `$str =~ s{\\Q(.*?)\\E){quotemeta $1}ge;` [download]	[reply] [d/l]
