Accessing chrome extension

gyoi has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Hello everyone, I am trying to get some data from the web. I can get most of the data I need, but part of it is in a browser extension, which I am unable to read. The extension is form google chrome. When I use chrome's "Inspect Element" I can see the information I need. My questions are: 1) Is there a way in Perl to read the data of a browser extension? 2) Is there a way for me to call chrome's "Inspect Element" using perl? Thanks in advance

I don't believe there is an existing module to automate Google Chrome similar to WWW::Mechenize::Firefox or WWW::Selenium. With either of these modules you should be able to inspect elements on pages. See Using WWW::Selenium To Test Or Automate An Ajax Website, WWW::Mechanize::Firefox and WWW::Mechanize::Firefox::Cookbook. Super Search for examples.	[reply]

You may need to try the long way around. Using the Developer tools -> Network screen, click on the "Preserve Log upon Navagation" icon. Run the extension and see what interactions the extension has with the servers. Copy these in to your Perl editor and see if you can replicate the results using LWP or one of the WWW::Mechanize modules...	[reply]
