Dear fellow monks! not too long ago i read with amusement as to what happened to one of our brethen....

Never thought this would happen to my company as we are a software development firm solely using Perl to program Internet applications. Now the management wants to make a switch and use ASP instead!! (now if ain't broken, why break it!)

Not really wanting to open a can of worms, but still if fellow monks have found articles on the Internet advocating Perl, kindly post them here so that at least my bosses know that we are not alone out there... Thanks

Don't throw the baby out with the bath water. ASP and Perl are not mutually exclusive things. Me, I thinks it's a nice, if rather sinister marriage. Check these links out: Perl don't need savin' from nuttin'.

In Damian's talk on Perl 6 (at YAPC::Eu::2002), he mentioned that when a certain language does not appear to have a future (as in, no serious updates, fixes, etc), people consider it dying. When Perl 6 was announced 2 years ago, they apparently noticed a Perl boom.

If you have trouble convincing pointy haired bosses, send em to a Damain talk :)

See Perl Success Stories. These stories are mostly about business cases for using perl in Fortune 500 companies and government agencies.
