Following the questions raised regarding CPAN in this thread last week, I came across The Zen of Comprehensive Archive Networks document, which has recently been updated.

This document provides an excellent overview of the CPAN archive, which, in conjunction with the CPAN Frequently Asked Questions document, should provide the answers to many of the questions about CPAN, its structure and the written and unwritten "rules" raised in this thread.

I wasn't entirely sure whether this should be posted in the News or Meditation section of this site, but given the strong opinions expressed in the referenced thread, felt it should be posted nonetheless.
