As to redundant/overkill; Maybe so, but I think that a page like that would bode well for Perl's image -- popularity, PR, etc (not to insinuate to the contrary), and how would making people feel good, be a bad thing. :)
The page would just be impressive, too. My humble thought's, anyway.
