"Just because some corporations make ridiculous devices with terrible interfaces that are abused by their addicted users does not mean these people should be accomodated."

I'm left wondering if you are serious or just trying to get a laugh, or perhaps deeply cynical.

"These people", I'd estimate, comprise about 99% of the population. My cell phone is probably about 20 times more powerful and useful than the desktop I had in the 90's

"Keep perlmonks hard to use for those who can't follow simple instructions on performing tedious and repetitive tasks to format and output text because they might not be too interested in the actual programming of computers after all."

I'm interested in programming because it makes repetitious, tedious things easy, because routine activities can be automated.

That a Perl programmer community forum lacks what most people on the internet would consider basic forum functionality, makes Perl appear to be rather useless, if Perl programmers can't even fix their own forum. Who would want to use Perl or hire a Perl programmer if this is the result?

I certainly like being able to use HTML, but PerlMonks doesn't even let me post a screenshot of my programs web interface.

I have to insert HTML that is useless but can't use HTML that would be useful. If you don't like it, tough beans, get lost.

If that is actually the prevailing attitude, well, go ahead and downvote me right out or whatever, no big loss, it really doesn't seem to pay to try and be helpful around here.
