"But I was very serious about the camel favicon ☺"

You seemed 'serious' about all the points you made, but none of them are true. You are aware you can't see all the responses to yet make an accusation based upon an incorrect comment from a random internet user? The statement that "it's already broken: redirects "fix" it.", demonstrably incorrect. I see the favicon for search.cpan without issue, tested on several machines, different networks and browsers. Regarding the metacpan favicon, as far as 'What do they mean?', if you look at the metacpan logo this should be apparent.
