After reading the many thoughtfull replies to this thread, I don't think anybody was using the 'ego-tattoo' for the only decent reason I could come up with for using one...

I noticed mostly saintish types using it, knew that a lot of them wrote a lot of books and such, and figured it was a good way to track the whole conversation between them and whomever so they could find them later and use them as inspiration for the next book.

I just figured that you could search for your own articles, or somebody elses, or for title, but not for the articles that were responses to things you had written. So, put your name in the title (for it's uniqueness, not ego) and you can search on that.
