I need to generate random (and unique) 6 digit numbers. I understand from doing some searching that Perl's rand function should not be relied apon as it only generates pseudo random numbers. The version of Solaris I'm using does not have a /dev/random unfortunately. So, would I be correct in assuming that I could use Math::TruelyRandom to generate a unique 6 digit number?

If I go with Perl's rand I was thinking of storing the generated numbers in a tied hash so that I could perform a lookup to see if I've ever generated that number before (just to be on the safe side). Does that make sense? What would you do?
