There's quite a huge choice by now (some will say that too much choice will do more harm than one only official and blessed system, anyway).

• Maypole : the first one.
• Catalyst : forked from Maypole IIRC.
• Jifty : forked from Catalyst I think.
• Gantry is quite new and seems promising; see Introducing the Bigtop Web App Language

I've seen another one or two (perhaps something called Mojo?) I just can't remind right now. however stuff such as RFC : AJAX + DBI = DBIx::LiveGrid and perljax may help you as well.
