Thats exactly what I needed I needed to find a way to define a parameter on the first form so I could tell the second form how to get the info back into the first form from the database. I knew how to get the info from the first form into the bottom of the file ie
open(FILENAME, "file.cgi") or die "$!";
print FILENAME ">>$scalar_i_wanted_transferred";
close (FILENAME);
But this is unacceptable as it would appear on the webpage as it only gets appended to the bottom, I needed to specify it to be sent into a field rather than just appended to the bottom, so that the information from page two would, once submitted also be displayed in page1.
Thanx again aadvark I appreciate the help very much. I have just started using perl so any advice a huge help.
