Just a quick note to all the monks here - I hope this is the place for this, I looked at "Where to post.." & this seems like the most obvious place.
I'm 30+ years into programming, but way new to online forums (only 3 at last count) and I have come to the conclusion, that I have been spoiled by you folks here at the monestary. I'm sure, early on, I stepped on a few toes & didn't phrase every question correctly, and just made all the normal new guy mistakes, but perlmonks has been kind, gentle, and very very helpful. I've never seen a SoPW question go even a few hours without SOMEbody offering SOMEthing.
Well, Last week I had an ocassion to log into another forum. WHAT a difference. 16 looks as of this morning but not a hint of an answer. The post was 4 days old today, & while it was originally a little hardware specific (will this work), the update I added had to do with a GUI question that I felt half the folks there should be able to offer SOMEthing to try. Nope. Nada.
Now I'm looking into why. Perhaps I posted in a wrong area (I used the novice area).
Anyway, PerlMonks, they're not! Thanks for all the help, keep up the great work. Some day I WILL be smart enough to repay the favor(s). -Aim.
In reply to Thank you.
