Yes, quite a while after we had identified a serious problem with our instance of MySQL, "the internet" noticed a problem with MySQL on FreeBSD. The two problems seemed related but not identical.

Since then, the internet solved their problem. And pair.com has upgraded FreeBSD and MySQL several times and even tried to build PerlMonks a custom version of MySQL using suggestions from the internet. The custom version of MySQL never worked well enough to even deploy.

PerlMonks' problem with MySQL that started when we switched to FreeBSD has not gone away. Actually we have two serious problems with MySQL. Perhaps if I show your benchmarks to our instance of MySQL our problems will go away.
