As I note in my response to ikegami, I do address BrowserUK's suggestions, either in my original question or in a response to someone else.

TomDLux's response was the third, and most egregious, that expressed a pointless hostility or contempt. In fact, his post is pretty much nothing but a rant premised on the notion that my question is moot and doesn't deserve an answer, because I should be solving my problem Tom's way instead.

I wonder what sort of responses I would have got if I had limited my original question to the first sentence. But, whatever. I will presently be gone, the ripples will soon fade, and all will shortly be calm and peaceful in the monks' pond. As you note: How fortunate for you.
