Why is it that alternatives to JavaScript have not developed or gained traction
Because that will only work if all major browser vendors sit together and decide what the alternative will be. Because if say, IE, implements "ReallyCoolLanguage", developers will have the choice of: But why should browser vendors sit together and develop an alternative for JavaScript. What's in it for them?
