    People didn't listen when these things were introduced 40 years ago. You're not listening now when these 40-year-old ideas still aren't being applied. We're trying to get people to listen so there won't be Big Balls of Mud to maintain at some point in the future.

    It isn't taught anymore because the world moved on from FORTRAN a good 30 years ago.

    We know that does not phase a Real Programmer.

    Makeshifts last the longest.

      Wait! I was doing FORTRAN when I started programming...

      That was only 25 years ago! ;-)
