So does Perl CookBook 2nd Edition, has any mistakes in the examples? Because I try to run the example, and they all fail, are the examples in the book, for Linux system, or they run in Strawberry Perl Win7? Best Regards Ray

There is an errata for Perl Cookbook 2nd edition. Good place to check for possible errors, typos, etc:
