I'm trying to understand the logic behind your post getting down voted. While attitude might not be the only reason programmers get fired, it certainly plays a part in transitions. Either the "attitude coders" don't fit in and choose to move on, or they get entrenched and others move on because of the new group dynamic.

I've often found great joy, and great frustration, in co-worker's attitudes. There have been times when I moved on because of the group dynamic.

It's probably related to the jaw-dropping hypocrisy of the second paragraph.

A short look at the post history for the user in question will show that they have no experience in management, problem solving or coding of any kind. This is all 'do as I say, not as I do' bluster.

You may be right; I don't have the Perl expertise nor the PerlMonks longevity to disagree with you.

For my own small portion of remaining sanity, I try to take people's opinions as they show up. If you tracked the stupid things I've said over the years, I'd look pretty bad. Lately, though, I've made an effort to think more and present well. Maybe I'm succeeding, maybe not. I would ask that each of us be given enough grace to have our words speak for us, no matter what someone may think of us personally. Even my ex-wife used to think I came up with decent ideas on occasion. :)
