Re: Why was my account deleted? (Zombification References)

Seems the account has been deleted. Any idea why?
Don't panic, I doubt you did anything wrong.
Though I'm an ignoramus of Perl Monk's infamous zombification process,
Super Search found some relevant references, listed below.
I'm pretty sure jdporter aka erzuuli will be able to resurrect your account in
time for your 20 year PM anniversary! :-)

Even tho I didn't meet the criteria, I probably got zombified. I had logins, but I doubt I ever posted. Whatever. The site is so incredibly slow these days.

- Did you at least vote? °
- Do you get an email if you try creating an account for another name? ¹
Look many thousands have been zombified over the years, and many accounts have been created automatically by spammers.
You're the first I remember complaining in the 16 years I'm here.
So please don't take it personally, and give the gods some slack to fix it.
°) If not I'm curious to know, why you even need an account for...
¹) As I said domains like Gmail are problematic these days.

Hello
> I'm Ruby,
Did you ever post any write-ups before? If yes could you please link any of them?
I can't find any trace of a user Ruby in super search, all findings are about the programming language mentioned in the title.
Users may be zombified to clean up blocked namespace, but only in extreme cases° complete posts.
> told me that an email would be sent shortly (to the original email
Some domains, especially Gmail, are problematic, because of their new spam prevention policy.
I'm also not able to get a password reminder here.
Many sites like ACT are affected by this, I also know that my alma mater stopped email forwarding altogether.
Please try with another domain.

I've received at least 4 "password reset/reminders" from the vroom account/automation between 2005 and 2014. I know I have/had the account. I've sent screenshot evidence to the gods, we'll see what happens - if the /msg was even received, the form to message gods gives ZERO feedback to know if my message was sent or received. For all I know the page just refreshes :-)
What do you mean by blocked namespace?
I created the account/name/id/namespace because I wanted an account here and thought it was a cool name. I wouldn't consider that "blocked" - if anything the namespace is blocked even more after being suspended, because I can't even re-create the account. Anyway. It is what it is.
Like what does "unused" even mean in this context 11132032? There's no explanation.

Probably because (a) the username you created the account with is rubysinnhotels, not Ruby, and (b) those accounts were locked for spamming,
and (c) you already have account, silent11. Use that.
Update:
I made a mistake. You were actually
referring to this account -
which was not locked but rather zombified.
(Two different things.)
I have unzombified it.
But note that secondary accounts don't get to
vote on nodes.
It was zombified because (a) it never had any
activity and (b) it had been several years since
it was last logged in.
I'm curious why you're suddenly interested in it,
considering you never did anything with it.

I'm a bit embarrassed to admit I didn't know secondary accounts were allowed at PM.
I just assumed they'd be banned, so as to avoid sock puppet "conversations" in threads,
with the sock puppet loyally agreeing and praising his/her master ...
admittedly, anonymonk can be used for that (as SunnyD was suspected of doing in the bad old days :-).
I just stumbled upon the Cookies secondary account created by Lady_Aleena here which I found to be fun.
Yet I just don't see a plausible reason for the Ruby secondary account -- why create an account
that just sits there doing nothing for 20 years?

I have various secondary accounts, primarily for testing. ²
(The remaining sockpuppets are primarily used to attack and insult me publicly. All this love and respect must be compensated)
The rule is IIRC° that secondaries are allowed, as long as the gods are informed and can disable voting.
It's stated somewhere, I forgot where... ¹
On a more serious note, dear goldeneyelikeamosquito, I could think of many more reasons to have secondary accounts, much the same like for posting anonymous, but having the benefit to communicate and log.
°) One of my biggest problems with English word order is where to correctly place abbreviations like "IIRC"
¹) Little known fact is that the topology of help and policy pages here inspired string theory, the cabal might be awarded with a noble price soon
²) Actually I lost track, but Gmail should know. Most probably were most already zombified and are now ravaging the graveyard of abandoned modules and eating the brain of former maintainers.

Are you happy now silent11? Now you can login with another account again, that has zero posts in almost 20 years before this amazing announcement.

I didn't create any rubysinnhotels accounts. But that might explain why the account Ruby may have been deleted by mistake - tho I find it odd that there's actually evidence of the other account having ever existed. Perhaps because they had posts. spam bots > legitimate accounts.
"Why was my account deleted?" is a straight-forward and sincere question - As someone who works with applications, who's been involved in database maintenance, etc.. I'm just curious.
If the answer is, "we purge accounts here and don't keep an audit trails" that's OK - or if the answer is "this site is run by volunteers and the account may have been accidentally deleted" - that's acceptable too. It sounds like the answer is "We don't know.
What I don't understand is anyone taking offense to that question.
What is concerning is that a member of gods is now accusing me of 1) not knowing what account I created and 2) spamming perlmonks.
I provided what evidence I could to gods clearly showing emails from vroom to the user Ruby. Rather than responding to me at the email address I provided gods, which was associated with Ruby, you dox me instead.
This isn't the sort of behavior I'd expect from one of the gods.
I'll drop the question now as the tone in this thread has turned sour.
This will be my last post on this topic as Anonymous Monk, 2024-04-28 00:00:46Z

Please read my update above. I got the user
wrong originally because (a) you said the user was locked, so I went looking for a locked user named 'ruby' and found
that one, and (b) I didn't find any user named 'Ruby' because that account had been zombified, and
zombified users have their names changed (by prepending 'Zombie ').
I should consider that users don't necessarily know
all the minutiae of how this place works, e.g. the
differences
locking and zombifying. Sorry about that.
I didn't dox you. (1) People don't know who the
real person is behind silent11 or Ruby —
neither the real name nor the email address, which
is all the info we have. And even that info isn't
necessarily "real".
(2) There are documented restrictions on what
people can do with secondary accounts here,
and we've made no representations that affiliations
between primary and secondary accounts will be kept
secret. Again, I wonder why you care so much, given
that you never did anything with the
secondary account.
I probably would have followed up by email except I saw you raise the question here, so I figured you wanted
your question answered publicly. I regret that I misread
you on that.
