I've been thinking again about the way the site is
organised and how we navigate round it. This is
almost an extension of the node I wrote about
update times but not
quite.
Here's what I want:
- This concerns the newest nodes page. I would
like, as an option, to get a page that had the fully
expanded text of all the newest nodes, rather then a
series of links to them. (I don't want new monks included in this).
This would mean that one could load all of the
newest nodes and browse them without excessive
clicking back and forth.
Note: I'm not
suggesting replacing the current newest nodes
section. I think that if this was to be
implemented, it should also be possible to get a
listing in the current format. Then those who want
to continue with the current format would be free to
do so.
</.li>
- I would also like to have each node contain a
link to the "root" of the discussion that it is a
part of. Then if one wanted to see the node in
context, a simple click would load the entire
discussion to that point. It would be nice if the
node you came from was highlighted in a different
colour - to make it stand out.
I suppose these are really separate, but
implementing them both would make the site much
easier to navigate.
Nuance
Baldrick, you wouldn't see a subtle plan if it painted
itself purple and danced naked on top of a harpsichord,
singing "Subtle plans are here again!"
