in reply to Front Page Nodes Getting More Reputation

I don't really care about the XP involved, and in fact once upon a time, I frontpaged two nodes on the same day that had negative rep.

Why? Because I read the nodes, the responses they generated and thought that I learned a great deal from the entire thread, though nothing from the original posts. I didn't know until after I frontpaged them that they both showed up on worst nodes (I never ++'d or --'d the originals). Many monks here disagree with frontpaging bad nodes, but I think that the entire thread should be considered not just the primary node.

BTW, the original nodes never did fare well though the good responses did. So I think that speaks well of the community and their ability to discern good posts from bad ones. Mediocre posts? Well, that's another matter.
