I use what I think is the simplest/easier to configure environment:

• Win2k Professional
• IIS
• Activestate Perl
• MySQL
• Activestate Komodo for editing/debugging

As an IDEAL environment I would say:

• Linux or FreeBSD
• Apache with mod_perl
• Oracle
• The editor I'll leave blank as I don't know much of developing in these platforms.
