I built a little perl script for win32. It has simple GUI using Win32::GUI. I want to send it to someone who has no interest in, and probably an administrative barrier against, installing perl. Which of the tools in the subject line, or some other source, should I use? My thoughts:
- perlcc seems to require a C compiler. I don't know if cygwin will work. I also don't know if it builds an exe that does not require me to ship a bunch of dlls.
- perl2exe looks interesting. Does it work well?
- ActiveState's PerlDevKit with PerlApp costs about the same as perl2exe ( < USD200) and seems to have more stuff. It looks as though it sort of merges some mini perl interpreter with your code. Is that right?
Oh, and while I could just ship a zip, does anyone know of a free Windows install tool?
I'm just another linux hacker (to coin a phrase), so I need some advice on these Windows tools.
Thanks! --traveler
