I've already added a \ after dir using this statement if one does not exist.... 
unless($dirname =~ /\\$/){        
    $dirname .= "\\";
}

[download]
so by doing 
$fullname = $dir.$file."\\";

[download]
I just continue to build the path to the file with the trailing '\'
