There was a few years ago an article in DDJ about searching with Burroughs-Wheeler-Transform. The algo goes essentially like this: BWT your search space. All the strings with the same last letter will be together. Search for the first and last of them. They will give you index to second last letter. Now you can part your range according to second last letter in search string. Repeat 25. If you dont part you do a fuzzi. See the article http://www.ddj.com/articles/2003/0312/
