Ok... I am not an expert here, but I fail to see why you are using HTTP::Proxy in your program when you are already running a remote proxy... Have you tried Corion's or shmem's advice above?
I really think that what you want to do is follow the instructions here:
on how to use WWW::Mechanize via a proxy server...
