Actually, Akismet can be used for any kind of spam. Take a look at Askismet Development. Also check out PHP-Askimet-Contact , an example of a PHP contact form using Akismet. It simply checks the submitted content against a constantly evolving ruleset and decides whether to reject it or not. It works quite well on blogs, forums, and would be equally effective in a contact form.
