I am trying to Use Archive::Tar to untar a tar file. I need to extract groups of files into subdirectories based on their names. I tried to extract an array of files using the extract option with the Archive ::Tar module. here is my code: 

use Archive::Tar;

  print join "\n", Archive::Tar->list_archive("test.tar")," ";
  
  $tar = Archive::Tar->new("test.tar");
 print join "\n", $tar->read("test.tar",1), " ";
@filename = <1r3*>;
 $tar->extract(@filename);

This code lists the files in the archive and also reads the no. of lines, but does not extract the files in the @filename array. Please help -Anuradha
