Dear Monks,
It has come to my attention through frequent private communications with
perlsyntax that he has a learning disability. I think this is evident once one takes in some of his
posts at once.
I am not asking for you to treat him differently, but I felt like before some of the normal snarkiness got out of hand, I would make everyone aware that he is not a troll or unwilling to learn.
I don't know much else about him, but I do believe that both is disability
and his desire to learn Perl are real. Please try to treat him respectfully. I do not know if there is any precedent here on how to respectfully handle this sort of thing, but any pointers in the comments below would be appreciated.
I did get his permission to post this. I've also explained a few things to him regarding this place, and he should understand very well that this is a place to learn and help others learn. That said, I am not his keeper - I just wanted him to have a fair shot.
Thanks for reading.
Cheers, Pf
