Oh thanks Dave again! I am currently running ur code but no results have been spewed out by my mac yet! Maybe I have a few more than 5000 entries but def no more. I should have mentioned the file starts with these two lines first then runs down in repetition a la: PDB ID,SITE NUMBER,RESIDUE TYPE,CHAIN ID,RESIDUE NUMBER,CHEMICAL FUNCTION,EVIDENCE TYPE,LITERATURE ENTRY 102l,0,GLU,,11,S,PSIBLAST,206l 102l,0,ASP,,20,S,PSIBLAST,206l 103l,0,GLU,,11,S,PSIBLAST,206l 103l,0,ASP,,20,S,PSIBLAST,206l 104l,0,GLU,A,11,S,PSIBLAST,206l 104l,0,ASP,A,20,S,PSIBLAST,206l 104l,1,GLU,B,11,S,PSIBLAST,206l So maybe I would need to delete the first few lines? Ada x ps- this will prob come out all messy but the first line begins with PDB and then FUNCTION and the list of entries all neatley placed one under the other
