Dear revered monks,
I have been hitting my head against the wall with this one for quite some time. I'm trying to write a little script that runs on a user's desktop and periodically downloads and checks a certain file. If something goes wrong, the user is notified (via a popup, systray icon or something similar).
The trouble is that this script will run on a Windows terminal server about twenty to thirty times within different user sessions which makes things a little tight on the memory side.
Things I've tried so far:
- Perl::TK: The one that came with ActivePerl 5.10 required 7.7MByte for a simple one-window test script
- Win32::GUI: 6.9MByte
- Gtk2: From the Camelbox project: 13.2MByte
These requirements come even without adding LWP or anything that does something useful, just a basic blank window with a button or two.
So, dear monks, is this a lost cause or is there something I'm missing?
Thanks
charon
