Yes, combining \G and pos() is buggy. See also [bugs?] perldoc perlre, \G and pos() ...¹

Actually I wanted to send a bug report ... :-(

UPDATEs: ¹) pos()=pos() is a workaround I used, indicating an implementation problem!
