Hi, I am using perl expect.pm module for executing some command on remote machine and trying to fetch the executed command return status ($?) value.

For example, I am executing the command as follows

 $expect->send("grep xyz *;echo RET_VALUE:$?")

Independent of grep command execution status value ($?) 0 for success and 1 for failure, It's printing string RET_VALUE:0. Meaning everytime the $? takes the value 0.

command is getting successfully executed because the grep command is printing correct output.

Any quick help / suggestion / indication is highly appreciated
