Why aren't you using one of the bazillion wheels currently on CPAN? Class::Methodmaker seems to be popular (though I've never personally used it).

Personally, I like Class::Accessor and Class::Data::Inheritable. I found them, when I started browsing around in the Class::DBI prerequisites, and I plan on using them a lot more. "What should it profit a man, if he should win a flame war, yet lose his cool?"	[reply]
