Packing Program

Anonymous Monk has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Dear Monks,

i want to know how can i pack my Perl program to work as an .exe program which means it can work without the need to install active perl , perl modules etc..

best bet (and free) is probably PAR .. the command-line program for it is pp See also How do I compile my script so that it becomes a standalone executable? in Q&A/programs and processes.	[reply]

I high recommend PAR, I've been use for a long time on my Windows network environment with success. You can install easy with Activestate ppm by Bribes Repository Solli Moreira Honorio Sao Paulo - Brazil	[reply]

If you're using windoze, you want PerlApp which is part of the ActiveState Perl Dev Kit. Works great. Steve	[reply]

I have used ActiveState's Komodo to do this, it will package everything into the executable and run portably. Don WHITEPAGES.COM \| INC Everything I've learned in life can be summed up in a small perl script!	[reply]

For the sake of completeness there is also perl2exe. I've used both PerlApp from ActiveState and perl2exe and they both have advantages and disadvantages. But it's been a few years since I've used either so much could have changed.	[reply]

I like perl2exe written by http://www.indigostar.com. ActiveState make a compiler also. Plus you can use PAR to package it. http://www.basgetti.com	[reply]
