With POSIX, it would be:

use POSIX; print strftime("%A, %B %d, %Y %H:%M", localtime(time));

The big advantage is that with POSIX you can get day and month name in your language, e.g. for me the output looks like:

Dienstag, Februar 14, 2006 08:43
