in thread importing text to DNS...Code

Hi ajd335, I have no doubt about the acronyms of DNS and DHCP ;-) what I wanted to know is the environment within which you want to export your text file of ip and macaddresses. i.e. when you change your systems ip, you also need to change the information on your DNS server - is this server a standard router, a computer with windows running on it or is it a unix/linux based server? If it is a linux based server, the usual DNS program (called bind or littledns or whatever), will have text files that have (for bind) extensions .db - so the solution to your problem will depend on what the system is and whether the perl scrip one writes can be portable to that system. Thanks for your clarifications.

Hi Eosbuddy, I am really sorry for that. The DNS program is running on Windows 2003. If further information needed please tell me..Cz the problem is bugging me ....
Hello ajd, At the outset I would like to mention that I am afraid, I am not familiar with windows server 2003 setups. Nonetheless, let me probe a little further on before I give up: Is your windows 2003 server having any control panel (like plesk) above the IIS or is it solely running IIS? Have you turned automatic DNS updates on (per this suggestion by Microsoft: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/816592 )? Are you looking for a perl code that will do updates on your server (if so, is perl installed on the system - my line of reasoning is, that if the OS can do the updates automatically, it is usually the best solution).
Hi eosBuddy, regarding IIS , I donno much how it's configured. But , I guess they are not may be the kind of solution that we are looking for. Regarding Automatic DNS Updates On , It doesn't work properly. And that's the reason why I was searching a script. EosBuddy, the script can be using any thing. I mean perl, php , java script or anything. Ya perl is installed on the OS. Thanks for the help....
