Perhaps you could try to adapt one of the Answers from How do I count the frequency of words in a file and save them for later?. I found that node using Super Search where title contains all of "word", "freq": ?node_id=3989;HIT=word%20freq;re=N	[reply]

As a homework assignment, find out how this works and then rewrite it in a decent way. Hint: takes as arguments one file with a list of words/expressions and a list of files to be processed.
