IMHO he's very explicit and especially this hint: I'm tired of the people who enjoy a back-and-forth debate about how communities should run, and want to spread that joy to people not involved in the original discussion. might indicate that it's not appropriate to discuss all of this here. Sorry but Points of Order are always in order. Having a discussion about how people should conduct themselves in your group is a Point of Order. If you don't allow them, then you don't have a group. At least, not for long.	[reply]

Maybe we all need something new occasionally. I know I did - I drifted into Flash/Actionscript. Back in the day I did get annoyed with the Perl community sometimes - and this may be totally unrelated but I think not - there was a sort of socially-accepted attitude of slight negativity (towards each other) around. There's no reason why it should exist with Perl rather than elsewhere, but it seemed to be there. It's not hard to combat negativity. Programming in Perl is great fun. You can achieve awesome stuff in seconds and then can play around with the code or do it differently. A programmers dream if you ask me:) It used to be a worry for me that Perl might not "survive", but now I don't see how it can* 'die'. With CPAN you've got the answer to anything any other programmer can ever say about us (and any serious debate they raise is finished right there) I love the programming I'm doing at the moment. But I'd never switch from Perl *And it does exist elsewhere - I just haven't felt it in quite the same way at all	[reply]
