2 short questions

Hi Monks, I have two short questions which have been on my mind often enough to warrant a post:

Is there a way to automatically know if someone has responded to a node I wrote? For example, a mail with the subject "Your node has been responded to" or something similar?
A bit of a silly question, but what does "OP", as in "I think the OP's point about how members reacted.." stand for? I have seen this two letters fairly often but couldn't figure out what they mean and am quite curious :)

Hello mrguy123! you can see in the chatterbox-box if someone responded to one of your nodes; you can set this in your settings, subsection message-settings OP means "original poster" - the one who wrote the starting node of the current thread HTH, Rata	[reply]

Original Poster - makes sense! I thought the P might stand for Perl but obviously not. Regarding the chatterbox, I have looked at the FAQ but couldn't find anything about responses to nodes. An hints on where it is?	[reply]

Try the following: go to your profile: mrguy123 select "Edit your ... settings" (top line besides your picture) select message settings select "/msg me when there's a reply to one of my posts" HTH, Rata	[reply]

1. When I go to the PerlMonks FAQ and enter "notif" in the search box, I get results (including) I want to ask a question of the Perl Monks. Where do I start? and How do I post a question effectively?, both of which articles address this topic. 2. Did you try just entering "OP" in the search box? Also, when search the FAQ for "acronyms", I find Guide to PerlMonks Acronyms and Abbreviations. I reckon we are the only monastery ever to have a dungeon stuffed with 16,000 zombies.	[reply]

OP is short for either "Original Post" or "Original Poster" depending on context (e.g. "In the OP..." vs. "The OP said..."). The Chaterbox nodelet is also used to indicate if you have new messages. You can enable it and place it via your Nodelet Settings. You can also manually check your Message Inbox, which includes reply notifications.
