I love OOP, You love C,
C++'s family.
All the classes made it seem,
That i would love this language stream.
I love OOP, You love Perl,
Let's take Moose out for a whirl,
All the symbols make it seem,
It only takes a package stream.

I spent hours and hours on what not to see,
(To extend Ignored Users, specifically,)
So that it would work in last hour of cb
And then ambrus responded with simplicity.
I tried using javascript, with Greasemonkey installed,
For "editing scripts", it's normally called,
With testing and googling, i was enthralled,
Then a Perl Monks Discussion, to show what i scrawled.
But, .chatfrom_<some digits>, when i took a peek,
I mistakenly thought, was to keep it unique,
Corion explained, ambrus's critique,
It's the monk's node id, and not that oblique.
You work and you learn, even when it's for naught,
And look on with pride, when you see what you wrought,
Though the answer is different than i previously thought,
I'm happy i did it, i reached what i sought.

PM XP is just a game

PM XP is just a game,
I know, but yet, and just the same,
The points and levels as they might,
Add extra fun to PM's site.
With each and every node a score,
Begs to some to come for more,
It sends a message loud and clear,
Please come back, we love you here.
But if you hang around for long
You'll hear another PM song,
That you should just ignore XP
And let those silly numbers be.
The points are simply for the node,
Regardless of what you have been told,
It's not a pat or user slight,
It's based upon a node's own might.
Who can argue with what's right?
I'd like to say i've seen the light.
But still deep down the voices say
How many points you have today!
Am i wrong to say i care?
Or any time i look what's there?
Or where i rank inside the Book,
Not that i'll admit i look.
Perhaps a game, though on the side,
With content being the main stride,
As long as you act in that way,
It's okay if you like to play.

A new year is here, but where?
The four to five is live, do i care?
A few will renew, but time is due,
The stuff is old enough, let's review.
The end of December i remember, a glowing ember.
Scoff at days off?! Been waiting since November!
Our mood ensued, and delicious food,
Even the restive were festive, no more feuds.
But i fear it's clear, the new year,
A slow start in part, but we're here.
Politics back on track, poised to attack
The anointed pointed, picked up the slack.
The new is bold, but old and cold,
Again and then, or so i'm told.
The end had a trend, people would bend,
It didn't stay, but the day, i await my new friends.

It’s Christmas! Ring the Monastery bell,
As we with joy recall that first Noël
When shepherds, watching through the lonely night,
Were over-awed by heaven’s glorious light.
With cheer, we’ll greet our brother monks, and sisters,
And amnesty extend to Pythonistas,
And other erring souls; foreach, today,
We wish bright blessings in a long @array.
And tho’ at times, alas!, we make a %hash
Of our Monastic Rule, with insults rash
And words unkind: today we start anew
And map our way with kinder goals in view.
A maid needs help with syntax? We’ll not fail ’er.
A hill of bugs is in our way? We’ll $scalar.
Tho’ all the year in Perl we script — and well, —
Today it’s “Per”, in honour of Noël.

Merry Christmas!

A Perl beard is not usually well formatted.
It just grows from lack of care
late working hours give dirty collars
n modest clothes are best to wear
When you feel the bugs are scary,
weird enough to pull your hair
take a break , you big Perl guy
sleep on it and come back fair.
Perls got debug, n mods that Capture
every bit n trace out there
rest assured, there aint no language
that's got so much built-in flair

Upvotes and Downvotes, arent they just frills
lacking all context; reputation's sigils
if you while working, come across pain
turn to the perlmonks, there's so much to gain
some might be dandy, some might be plain
some might just tease you , to check once again
all in good sport then, we newbies must take
the acts of good valor, the dear monks display

makes your code sassy n best
and for the help the monks freely give
try to donate your time or a triv'
and e'en if you dont want to spend
at least vote on good posts a plent'.
